About Atheneia
Curiosity is the beginning of change.
Atheneia explores the relationship between the conscious and the subconscious – it is a place to remember who you are, where you want to go, and how you can get there.

Meet Elena
Elena Hikmet
Elena’s path to Atheneia began with a question she could not put down: why do we keep becoming versions of ourselves we did not consciously choose?
Her study of neuroscience drew her towards neurodevelopment and neuroplasticity – the brain’s remarkable capacity to adapt, form new connections, and change throughout life. She became fascinated by the possibility of self-directed neuroplasticity: that, through the way we think, focus, and experience the world, we can participate in shaping the brain we live with.
Psychology offered another perspective: not simply how the brain changes, but how we experience ourselves within it. And hypnotherapy became the space in between – a place where neuroscience and psychology meet the subconscious, and where change can be approached not by endlessly asking why am I this way?, but by asking a more useful question: where would I like to go from here?
Solution-focused hypnotherapy invites us to imagine, rehearse and begin creating a preferred future – one that feels more aligned with who we want to be.
At the heart of Atheneia is a simple belief: we already carry many of the answers we are looking for.
Sometimes, they are simply buried beneath the noise – the expectations, patterns, fears and stories that have accumulated along the way.
Atheneia is a space to become quiet enough to listen.
To turn inward, with curiosity rather than judgement. To notice what is already there. And, from that place, to begin creating change that feels intentional, meaningful and your own.
The Foundations
What the work is built on
Four currents that meet in every Atheneia experience.
01
Neuroscience
An understanding of how the brain learns, encodes and updates – the science beneath why change is possible at all.
02
Psychology
The patterns of thought, feeling and behaviour that shape daily life – and how to meet them with curiosity rather than judgement.
03
Hypnotherapy
A focused, relaxed state of attention that allows the subconscious to be heard, understood and gently worked with.
04
Mind–body practice
The breath, the body and the nervous system as quiet collaborators in how we experience ourselves.
“Remembering who you are.”
